Start a request by uploading your clinical records. Davner fills out the form, and you review it before we submit it to the payer. If you're doing this for the first time, follow [Your first prior authorization](https://davner.com/docs/getting-started) for a walkthrough.

## What to include

Select **New Request** and add the files for the request. You can upload PDFs, Word documents (.docx), and PNG or JPEG images, including screenshots. See [Your first prior authorization](https://davner.com/docs/getting-started) for the records to include.

Use **Notes or special instructions** for anything that isn't in the records. For example, if the procedure was scheduled after the order was written, include the date of service.

## Review the details

Check the details against the records, correct errors, and fill in any missing required information.

| Section | What to check |
| --- | --- |
| Patient and insurance | The patient's details, payer, and member ID. |
| Ordering provider | The clinician who ordered the procedure. |
| Rendering provider | The provider who will perform the procedure. |
| Facility | Where the procedure will take place. |
| Procedures | Procedure codes, quantities, and supporting diagnoses. |

You can search for providers or enter their details. For example, the clinician who ordered a scan and the provider performing it may be different.

Davner fills in tax IDs from your [saved providers](https://davner.com/docs/providers/managing-providers#save-tax-ids). If a different tax ID applies to this request, you can change it while reviewing the form.

Once you've checked the form, select **Attest & Submit** to confirm that the information is accurate and complete. We take over the submission and follow-up from there.

## Scheduling and STAT requests

If the procedure is scheduled, enter a **Date of Service**.

Select **STAT request** when the request needs highest-priority handling. Davner selects it automatically for a service date within the next three business days.

## Change or withdraw a request

### Correct details after submission

For a request your organization created, open the three-dot menu and select **Edit request**. Make your changes and save.

Add a comment in **Activity** to let us know about changes to the procedure, facility, or service date.

### Withdraw a request

If a request your organization created is no longer needed, select **Withdraw request** at the top of the request and confirm **Withdraw**. Its documents and activity remain available.

If the request is already with the payer, leave a comment so we can follow up with them. Withdrawing it in Davner doesn't cancel it with the payer.

## Common questions

**Can I include more than one procedure?**

Yes. Group procedures together when they can be submitted to the payer under one prior authorization request. This keeps the authorization and its updates together for easier tracking.

If the procedures may need separate authorizations, create separate requests in Davner, especially when they're for different service types or dates of service. That way, you can track each authorization separately.

**Can I fill out the form myself?**

Yes. Select **Continue manually** while Davner processes the files. You can also complete the form manually if the files couldn't be processed.

**Do I need an EHR integration?**

No. You can upload files directly. Davner can also be configured to read EHR exports or pull records through a cloud EHR integration. [Contact us](https://davner.com/contact) to discuss your practice's setup.
